THIS WEEKS TOP ARTIST (17/09/10)

Not much reviews today, but i love love love the Drum&BassArena Anthology Minimix! Haven't got the full album yet, so i think i've to be happy with the minimix. The album itself contains of 3 CDs with LOADS of massive drum n bass tunes from the early days until now. And when i say masive, i really mean it. Check out the album microsite here. There you can listen and download the minimix. The forum says:

'Drum&BassArena Anthology’ Has arrived! This album serves as an introduction for those who have recently got into the scene and a collectable item for those who have been involved since the beginning. ‘Anthology’ is a definitive history covering the period from 1993 right up to the cutting edge of 2010. Spread over 3xCDs and Digital Download.
Bye now

THIS WEEKS TOP ARTIST (20/08/10)

Sorry for not posting my top artist for about, mmm, maybe 3 weeks? Been busy and sometimes laziness attack.. :p Anyway, here is my fave artist this week, most of them are bands, including probably my fave artist, The Postal Service. They easily became #1 this week, apparently because i can't stop listening to their remix of John Lennon's Grow Old With Me. You decide which one better, the original or the remix one. I love the remixed version more, in fact it became one of my fave song of all time. Listen here for the remix, pay attention to the lyrics:

"Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one..."

And i love listening to Mew's Beautiful Balloons. This track reminds me of Silversun Pickups, no? Explosions In The Sky is what i also heard recently, thanks to Johnny my boy for this post-rock sounds :) Also, i have lot listening to Katie Melua's cover of Just Like Heaven - probably because i've heard it the earlier on one of that Fringe soundtrack... and I also have The xx, Team Sleep, The Cure, and Copeland as my playlist this week.

Oh before i forgot, Hospital Podcast 119 and 120 is out last week, and thanks to Tony aka London Elektricity for reading my shout again! :D (although he called me with Gladys instead of Dhany.. maybe that's because my screenname is 'gadisradio' hehe)

Overall, it's a great week, see ya guys soon :)

THIS WEEKS TOP ARTIST (23/07/10)

Kinda lazy to write a review :p so just go click my LastFm page :) Over all, i love discovering new music and i heard a lot of new bands this week. Faunts, YACHT, and Telepathe are some which catch my ears. But the winner have to be The xx's cover of Aaliyah's Hot Like Fire. Lovely.

THIS WEEKS TOP ARTIST (16/04/10)

Electronic music for sure! Look at my top artists this week, and you'll see. I've been in to IDM a.k.a Intelligent Dance Music since Telefon Tel Aviv filling my iTunes, and the number of that kind of artist grow faster than i think. Nitrada, Arovane, Tycho, Apparat, and Kettel is some of them. But i still love the sound of dnb, look at Etro Anime and London Elektricity there! And the winner of it all was The XX (which i post about their album earlier today). Enough said.

THE XX - XX

Tracklist:
01. Intro
02. VCR
03. Crystalised
04. Islands
05. Heart Skipped A Beat
06. Fantasy
07. Shelter
08. Basic Space
09. Infinity
10. Night Time
11. Stars

I know i know i am very late, i mean, really late to post this thing, but i just want to do it. Every hipsterkids with blog already post it, and i am so sorry for posting this like a year after it was posted for the first time. What i'm talking about is The XX, with their xx album which had been take over my playlist this whole weekend and a few week earlier. This is a great album, powerful but quiet at the same time, well what can i say, a simplicity at its best.
Like Andrew Gaerig on Pitchfork said, "The XX didn't need a gestation period, though xx is nuanced, quiet, and surprising enough that you might."
I dont want to enjoy it myself (though i know some of you already had this record and playing it about a thousand times a day), so if you are pretty curious, this is where you can get it. My fave would be Islands and Night Time, but every song IS great.
Enjoy.

THIS WEEKS TOP ARTIST (08/04/10)

I guess i'm craving for some electronic music this whole weekend, specially drum n bass. Digital Ivy was on the top artist. You could hear and download the song here. The rest of all was drum n bass artist like Lomax with his Artisan VIP (i guess he must be adding some spliffs on it so i want it over and over again), London Elektricity (who's always be my dnb hero), and Bungle. Etro Anime has that chill-out-dnb-kinda-song, you should hear their song "Danger". Believe me, whether you're a fan of liquid dnb or not, you must be like this song. The rest was chillout artist such as Telefon Tel Aviv and Team Sleep. Those artist never fails me to chill. You should hear "Bubble and Spike" by Telefon Tel Aviv and you'll know why. The XX still my top artist this whole week, i'm too in love with their "Night Time." Once again, it makes me chill. Or maybe you just need a chillin' words..

"I am yours now
So now I don't ever have to leave

I've been found out

So now I'll never explore..."

The XX - Islands

Bye now, i'm having my weekend right here, chillin'.. :D

THIS WEEKS TOP ARTIST (26/03/10)

This week i've falling in love with The Temper Trap's Fader. The song fits me perfectly, i play it over and over and over again so they became my top artist for this week. If you wanna listen this song, click here. Beside the catchy tunes they provide, this song also have a great lyric, which one of my fave would be:
"bless this mess we tried our best
that's all that we can do
while the angels walk with the lonely ones
in the cold rain to rescue you.."

Sweet, sweet song..

MGMT's Time to Pretend and Electric Feel also takes my heart, and while Vampire Weekend's A-Punk makes me more enthusiastic for facing this week, The XX's Island makes me chill..
